We were very, VERY proud of Jess, who performed our 'Acknowledgement of Country' for the very first time to a large audience, with a beautifully written and personal acknowledgement written with mum. Well done, Jess!
Today it was our turn to lead our 3-6 school assembly! After quite a few practises and dry runs, the assembly ran very smoothly. We were very, VERY proud of Jess, who performed our 'Acknowledgement of Country' for the very first time to a large audience, with a beautifully written and personal acknowledgement written with mum. Well done, Jess! Then it was time for our most awesome school rap, lead by Chloe! We then shared our amazing blog with the whole school, explaining why we have it and inviting everyone to visit and leave quality comments. We received many great comments after the assembly and we hope that all of our visitors (including you) come back to visit often!

Bare walls are Mrs Gennari's WORST nightmare! This week, we got to work on some cool Minecraft 'Selfies' as part of our 'getting to know you' activities and to fill up the blank space in our fresh 2015 room.
Firstly, the selfies were designed on grid paper and the designs could not exceed an 8x12 'block' (cm) dimension. Each and every 'block' had to be carefully calculated, measured and cut to ensure that they would fit on the A3 art paper. Quite a few needed to be redesigned or scaled down, but these works in progress will show you that we eventually achieved SUCCESS! Mrs G can't wait for them to be placed on the walls to brighten up the place! Welcome to our new school year! 2015 promises to be full of excitement and fun and this week saw us get off to a wonderful start. If you have noticed, our blog has had a design change and you can now see a great panoramic shot of our new classroom set up. Mrs Gennari went shopping in the holidays and picked up some amazing bits and pieces to further enhance the fun, comfort and collaborative aspect of our room! These new expanding foam cushions from LIFE! are in the most popular corner of the classroom and measuring in at 1m x 1m, it's also the comfiest corner! We will need to check this corner regularly to make sure that nobody is taking a nap! A holiday wouldn't be the same without a trip to IKEA, where Mrs G bought a very soft and colourful rug, some stools for our circular table and mini tables for the kids to work on. The walls in this pic are empty, but read on, not for long! And then she opened up and organised all of her stationery items, but that's a story for another day! ;-) Make sure you keep checking in with out blog regularly as we share 2015 with you!
We can't wait to share our journey. What a tricky time of the year to keep up to date with blogging! With reports to write and end of year events to organise, unfortunately our beautiful blog has been a little neglected (naughty Mrs G!) Not to worry! Here we have a lovely selection of pictures and videos from our end of year events which included;
We hope you enjoy viewing the end of our spectacular 2014 school year! We look forward to seeing you all in 2015! Sir SIdney Robert Nolan (22 April 1917 – 28 November 1992) is a famous Australian artist who is very well known for his paintings of notorious Australian outlaw and bushranger, Ned Kelly. This term, S23K explored Nolan's painting "First Class Marksmen" as part of their study of Australian artists. Using oil pastel, paint and paper, we recreated our own masterpieces using Nolan's work for inspiration. We had to ensure that we focused on building background, mid and foreground layers to ensure that our proportions were effective and although all different, they all work quite well! Don't forget to leave a comment and let us know what you think of our work! On Monday October 20th, Stage 3 headed off to Myuna Bay for our annual school camp. With all of us tucked into three coaches, we zoomed up the M1, heading towards Newcastle. Heading off the Morisset exit, we soon reached Camp Myuna Bay.
There were so many memories from our camp, check out our blog roll to discover the exciting details on student blogs! Here are some fun pics from our week away! Today we explored the world of geometry, specifically triangles and their side and angle properties. Digging deep into the world of history, we also discovered the origins of the words equilateral, isosceles and scalene, discovering that many geometrical terms have Greek origins. The ancient Greeks made sense of their world through maths, hence why so many words have roots in their language. It wouldn't be a Mrs Gennari maths lesson without a bit of art thrown in, so we used geoboards and dot paper to replicate triangular designs using a variety of shapes! Crafty! How many places in the real world can you see triangles? Term 3 compliment goal = 35. By the 16th of September we had reached 41 compliments until this happened . . . We set up our very own Science Fair in the foyer outside our classroom. We invited the school community and each and EVERY one of them showed up to view our extraordinary experiments and displays. Then the compliments started to flow and our total blew out to the amazing total that you just saw! The Science Fair was a hit and this is why . . . From lemon energy, food colouring experiments, exploding volcanoes, bubble machines, electromagnets to wind turbines and solar powered cars, we had it all. Great job S23K, you worked so hard and your hard work paid off!
